SMS sender IDs and templates

Add your DLT sender IDs (headers) and content templates to Slovio, link each template to its senders, and get both approved so your SMS can be sent.

2 min readUpdated

Before Slovio can send an SMS, add your DLT sender ID under SMS → Senders and your DLT content template under SMS → Templates, link the template to the sender, and wait for both to show Approved.

Add a sender ID

  1. Open SMS in the sidebar → Senders → Add sender ID.
  2. Enter the Header exactly as registered on DLT (3 to 11 letters or digits, no spaces or punctuation) and its PE ID.
  3. Select Submit for approval.

Status: Awaiting approval → Approved (or Rejected). Nothing can be sent from a header until it is approved against your DLT registration.

Add a template

  1. SMS → Templates → Add template.
  2. Enter:
    • DLT template ID from your DLT portal,
    • a Name for your own reference,
    • Category: Transactional, OTP or Promotional,
    • Body exactly as registered, with {#var#} for each variable. For example: Dear {#var#}, your order {#var#} has shipped.
  3. Under Sender IDs this template may be sent from, choose which approved headers can send it.
  4. Select Submit for approval.

Change or remove

On a template, use Edit linked senders to change which headers can send it, or Remove template.

Categories

Category For Timing rules
Transactional Messages the customer needs, such as orders, bookings and account alerts Any time

Worked example

Kaveri Organics registered the header KAVERI and this template on its DLT portal, then added both in Slovio:

Field Value
Header KAVERI
DLT template ID 1107160000000012345
Name Order shipped
Category Transactional
Body Dear {#var#}, your Kaveri Organics order {#var#} has shipped. AWB {#var#}. Track at kaveriorganics.in/track -KAVERI
Sender IDs this template may be sent from KAVERI

Once both show Approved, the template appears in the SMS broadcast form under that sender. See SMS broadcasts for how the three {#var#} slots are filled.

Common questions

Why can't I pick my template in an SMS broadcast?

Only templates that are approved, active and linked to the chosen sender are listed. Check its status on Templates and use Edit linked senders to link it.

Does the body have to match my DLT registration exactly?

Yes, character for character, including spaces. The operator rejects a body that differs.

How do I write a variable in an SMS template?

Use {#var#} for each variable, exactly as on your DLT portal.

Can one template be sent from several sender IDs?

Yes. Tick every approved header under Sender IDs this template may be sent from, or change them later with Edit linked senders.
