Documentation
RCS · Verified brand agent
RCS business messaging sends branded, interactive messages with images, carousels and buttons to a customer’s default Android messaging app. Slovio supports RCS campaigns and two-way replies in Team Inbox, prices each message by destination, and can use RCS as the fallback channel for contacts a WhatsApp campaign did not reach.
RCS at a glance
RCS runs through mobile operators, with a verified brand agent. Slovio manages the details.
Side by side
Both land in the phone’s own messaging app. They differ in what a message can show, who can receive it and what each is best at.
| Compare | RCS | SMS |
|---|---|---|
| Sender | Your verified brand name, logo and colours | A registered sender ID (header) |
| What a message can hold | Long text, images, rich cards, carousels and buttons | Plain text, 160 characters per part |
| Replies | Customers tap a suggested reply or type one | Mostly one-way |

Best for
Most businesses use both. On Slovio, contacts an RCS campaign did not reach can get a linked WhatsApp campaign instead.
RCS capabilities in Slovio
RCS turns a text message into a branded, interactive card. Slovio covers registration, design, sending and delivery reporting.
Submit your name, logo, banner, contact details and opt-in description, validated against operator limits before submission.
Standalone cards with media, a title and a description, in a vertical or horizontal layout.
Swipeable rows of cards, each with its own buttons, for offers, catalogues and choices.
Reply chips plus actions to open a URL, dial a number, share or request a location, find nearby places or add a calendar event.
Schedule RCS campaigns or send them through the API, then track delivered, read and failed messages.
Contacts that RCS did not reach receive a linked WhatsApp campaign, priced at WhatsApp rates.
How it works
Register your brand agent, design the messages, then measure what reached customers.
Submit your brand name, logo, banner, contact details and opt-in description, checked against operator limits.
Build rich cards and carousels with suggestions, and let chatbot flows handle the replies.
Track delivered, read and failed messages per campaign, and fall back to WhatsApp where RCS did not reach.
Use cases
Cards and suggested actions replace bare links, so customers act in a single tap.
A carousel of offers, each with its own button, in place of a shortened link.
A suggested reply starts a chatbot flow that qualifies the lead before sales steps in.
Find-nearby and dialler actions direct customers to the right location or phone number.
An add-to-calendar action saves the appointment to the customer’s phone in one tap.
Part of the platform
What happens on RCS joins the same contact record as every other Slovio channel, so your team sees one history per customer.
RCS business messaging is the rich successor to SMS. A verified brand sends cards, carousels and tappable suggestions into the phone’s default messaging app, with its name and logo shown on every message. Slovio lets you register your brand agent, design RCS messages, send them at scale and track delivery from one dashboard.
SMS carries plain text from a sender ID, while RCS shows your verified brand name and logo and can carry images, rich cards, carousels and tappable buttons. Customers reply by tapping a suggestion. In Slovio, SMS is a separate, send-only channel on DLT templates, while RCS is two-way, with replies reaching your Team Inbox and chatbot flows.
No. RCS delivery depends on the customer’s device, messaging app and mobile operator, so some numbers cannot receive it. Slovio records delivery reports for every RCS broadcast, and can send a linked fallback campaign on WhatsApp to the contacts RCS did not reach, priced at WhatsApp rates. Slovio does not use SMS as a fallback channel.
Neither is better in every case. WhatsApp reaches customers who use the app and suits long two-way conversations. RCS arrives in the default messaging app on supported Android phones, with no app to install. Slovio runs both, and a campaign on one can fall back to the other for the contacts the first channel did not reach.
Slovio RCS templates support suggested replies and six suggested actions: Open URL, Dialer, Show Location, Find Nearby, Ask for Location and Add to Calendar. A tapped reply can start a chatbot flow in Slovio Automation, so the next message responds to the customer’s choice rather than sending a fixed follow-up.
Yes. Business RCS messages come from a verified brand agent. You complete the RCS registration form in Slovio with your brand name, logo, banner, contact details and opt-in description. Slovio validates each field against the operator’s limits before the form is submitted for approval, so issues are caught before review. Once approved, your verified brand agent is available for broadcasts and conversations.
Register your brand agent, design a card and see it arrive in the default messaging app.
